Job Summary
Under the supervision of Application Development Manager, the Application Development Chemist will be responsible to conduct standard testing on treated/untreated samples submitted by customers. The purpose is to determine susceptibility and offer recommendations to customers to prevent biodeterioration through formulation optimization, as a result, to grow Biocide business.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Work with cross-functional team members on projects related to product and application development.
  • Interact with customers to recommend our products and application development services, present project test results professionally.
  • Perform laboratory work involving standard test methods, sample preparation, and results analysis.
  • Maintain knowledge on various research methods and conduct tests according to standard test methods.
  • Maintain accurate records, and prepare testing reports for customers along with proper recommendations.
  • Prepare samples by cutting, sterilizing and processing material.
  • Accurately measure, record and report data.
  • Follow safety and housekeeping procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Education – Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology, biochemistry or chemistry
Experience –1-5 years of biology, chemical or plastic lab experience preferred
Personal Skills
  • Strong understanding of biology, chemistry and laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct standard test methods, interpret results and prepare reports for customers.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills with attention to details.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, good presentation skills to colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Self-Motivated and fast learner.
  • Willingness to keep current on information and research.
  • Strong IT and math skills.
  • Adhere to lab safety and operation rules and processes.
  • Leadership skills may be a plus.
Physical/Environmental Demands
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, scales, spatula, and cutting tools.
  • Able to handle chemical reagents and plastic materials, beakers, cylinders, etc.
  • Able to culture and transfer microorganisms using aseptic technique.
  • Maintain microbiology lab safety protocols for use of autoclave and biosafety cabinet.
  • Requirement of the use of personal protective equipment as dictated by the work area, such as safety glasses and safety shoes.
