Valtris Specialty Chemicals is Hiring a Process Operator Near Bridgeport, NJ
- Perform duties necessary for the daily operation on the production unit. Have a basic understanding of pump, heat exchanger, column, valve and jet functions and operations. Capable of starting and switching pumps and other process equipment, hooking and disconnecting tank trucks and rail cars, drumming and toting and loading and unloading tank trucks and railcars.
- Patrolling department and other areas for unusual conditions, Inspect storage tanks, process vessels and containment areas for leaks or spills (per N.J.A.C.7:1E-2.10 and DPCC requirements).
- Communicating to Chief Operator operational problems and actions. Diagnosing and correcting adverse process conditions.
- Identify and report process equipment troubles. Performance of minor maintenance activities. Equipment setup for maintenance activities in accordance with department SOPs (Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work and Line Break).
- Taking process samples and equipment readings, reporting any adverse conditions.
- Monthly/weekly/daily safety checklists, Housekeeping chores, Department and plant equipment safety status, personnel and coworker’s safety needs.
- Conformance with the Valtris Quality and Environmental, Health, Safety and Security policies and awareness of ISO 9001 and RC14001 management system requirements applicable to this position
- High School diploma with minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working manufacturing, preferably within a chemical manufacturing environment
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of chemical plant equipment and items
- SAP experience a plus
