Description:

Valor Healthcare operates more than 50 Veteran Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the United States as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Valor provides a full range of medical services to veterans through the operations of CBOCs. Our comprehensive set of services includes primary care, diagnostics, laboratory, telehealth, behavioral health, and more. In addition, we are always looking at other government contracts where this assignment comes into play as a contract position working directly in a Department of Energy facility for a occupational medicine outpatient clinic.

Position Summary

Performs general receptionist, secretarial and administrative support duties for the Medical Department.

Schedule: This is a full time day shift position with no contract end in sight.


Core
Responsibilities

  • Maintain all patient information within the guidelines of medical record confidentiality.
  • Receptionist duties including answering the telephone, greeting patients and serving as the front line representative to the client.
  • Performing initial non-clinical triage functions to direct patient flow to the nursing staff according to services needed.
  • Serving as the medical records clerk including obtaining and filing charts, creating new charts, maintaining active chart files and transferring inactive charts to storage.
  • Retrieving and sending mail, packages and express packages as needed for the department.
  • Distribution of mail and processing of correspondence, both in coming as well as out going. Maintaining a system for follow-up of out going correspondence requesting medical documentation for medical charts.
  • Typing letters and administrative documents as requested.
  • Setting appointments and processing forms for FCA employees at the end of the Medical Department visit.
  • Maintaining of database systems for case management as well as other statistical reports.
  • Performing hearing tests as requested.
Requirements:
  • Must have a High School Diploma
  • Must have completed a 1-year vocational training program
  • Must be a Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA, CMA, RMA, CMAA, etc)
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to include telephone and direct customer relations’ abilities.
  • Basic understanding and use of medical terminology.
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR experience
  • All other on-site clinic personnel shall be familiar with employee job task analysis, worksite environments, and existing or potential health hazards.

This job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.
