Valor Collegiate Academies is Hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional (2024-2025 SY) Near Nashville, TN

Location: Nashville, Tennessee 

Employment Type: This is a full-time, in-person role beginning in July for the 2024-2025 school year. We are hiring paraprofessionals to support our middle schools (5-8) or high school (9-12) students.
Salary: Compensation for the Paraprofessional role is $38,955 annually.

Core Responsibilities Include: 

  • Assist scholars in meeting their daily personal and academic goals
  • Collaborate closely with the special education team of teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure the success and wellbeing of scholars 
  • Assist and guide scholars during class transitions and help them stay organized and on-task in their learning spaces
  • Support scholars with alternative academic tasks in an inclusive classroom environment
  • Support scholars in developing coping strategies
  • When needed, pull out and work one-on-one with scholars to help them “reset” and prepare for the inclusive classroom environment
  • Assist scholars with personal daily life skills such as toileting, feeding, and general hygiene skills as needed
  • Assist lead teachers with developing and creating materials for lessons
  • Assist lead teachers to collect data on scholars individual academic and behavioral goals

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • You have either (1) completed two years of study at an institution of higher education, or (2) obtained an associate’s or higher degree, or (3) passed a test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics, or (4) completed an assessment of content competence developed by the Local Education Agency and approved by the Tennessee Department of Education.

  • You enjoy cultivating meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff 
  • You are able to model, live, and reinforce our school’s core values, commitments, and policies
  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Compensation for the Paraprofessional role is $38,955 annually, with an increase applied yearly to base salary
  • Paraprofessionals with Bachelor's degrees are eligible to apply for Valor's Transition to Teach Program after one full academic year of service, which provides an in-house pathway for paraprofessionals to enter the teaching profession
