Closing Date: Until Filled VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a Summer School Principal for High School position for the 2024 summer school. JOB SUMMARY: The Summer School Principal will facilitate development, implementation, and evolution of curricular, instructional and personnel functions of the high school summer school program, in order to continually improve student performance. SUMMER SESSIONS:
Student Attendance
Monday through Friday
7:30am – 12:00pm
June 6th-June 24th
Additional time required before and after session start and end date and start and end times on a daily basis to fully fulfill administrative performance responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must hold appropriate (PEL) Illinois Teaching License with General Administrative Endorsement
School administrative experience preferred
High School (9-12) experience preferred
Applicant must possess effective management skills
Ability to work with “at risk” students
Applicants must be available for the full summer term (i.e., under no other contractual obligation during this time period or ability to adjust current administrative calendar to fulfill obligation)
Ability to input or retrieve data, effectively and efficiently, in a user friendly manner.
Ability to lead all phases of instructional programs
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of audiences
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs and Leads On-Going Summer School Improvement Essential Duties:
Develops and evaluates summer school programs in collaboration with school administration from both campuses and district office administration
Works with district office and school administration on long-range summer school planning, to include monitoring course registration/enrollment, course offerings, support, and staffing
Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate
Confers with staff, students and community members on summer school programming, enrollment, problems and needs
Acts as Liaison to the Community
Interprets summer school program to community members
Maintains relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers and outside agencies
Serves as information liaison between the summer school building and the community at large
Speaks at administrator meetings and/or public meetings on issues of general or specific pertinence to the summer school programs
Supervises/Supports Staff Essential Duties:
Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, and assigning summer school personnel (including teachers and Driver Education Coordinator)
Supervises and supports summer school staff members
Observes the in-class performance of summer school teachers and confers and consults with them (as needed) regarding classroom environment, instructional practices and student performance
Makes Decisions and Resolves Problems and Conflicts Essential Duties:
Bases decisions on data
Consults with the appropriate personnel before making a decision
Considers a variety of alternatives before making a decision
Uses interpersonal skill to help students, parents and staff members to resolve their differences
Manages Executive and Fiscal Functions Essential Duties:
Attends meetings as directed by the Assistant Superintendent/Executive Director
Interprets and enforces district policies
