Closing Date: Until Filled VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Bilingual ESL/Language Arts teaching position for the 2024-2025 school year. JOB SUMMARY: The teacher is responsible to the high school building principals for: planning instructional lessons that meet the English literacy and common core academic needs of students in the bilingual/ESL classroom; creating a classroom environment that is conductive to learning; and employing Effective instructional techniques tailored to English learners. The high school Bilingual/ESL teacher will teach using district adopted curriculum and researched based instructional practices including sheltered English instruction, cooperative learning, writing & workshop and instructional technology. Lessons and units will be constructed analyzing and responding to formative and summative assessment data. QUALIFICATIONS:
Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with High School Bilingual/ESL Endorsements or Educator License with Stipulations (Spanish) and enrolled or willing to enroll upon hiring in courses leading to full bilingual/ESL endorsement
Language Arts Endorsement Required
High school English and/or Social Studies endorsement required for a PEL Holder
Bilingual in Spanish and English required
Prior training in ESL methods/techniques preferred for a ELS holder
Previous teaching experience with Bilingual/ESL students preferred
Teaching experience at the middle school level (6-8) preferred
Experience in multilingual classrooms preferred
Ability to organize and structure classes to maximize student learning
Inclination to be a part of staff development and program improvement activities, both self-initiated and building designed; including those performed in Professional Learning Communities (PLC) with an emphasis in development of assessments, unpacking of learning standards and analysis of student learning data
Ability to work closely with parents, teachers and supervisors to establish effective communication
