What You Will Do:
The Human Research Protection (HRP) and Account Specialist is responsible for providing regulatory expertise, guidance, and administrative support to the Valley Health/Winchester Medical Center Institutional Review Board (VH/WMC IRB) reviewing human subject research protocols and is responsible for the study account management of all human research conducting through the Valley Health Clinical Research Office.
The Specialist will attain and maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of human subject research protections and IRB regulations as contained in 45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 50 & 52, and other applicable federal and state regulations. They will serve as the subject matter expert by providing guidance and training to researchers, faculty, staff, students, and IRB members. The Specialist will educate, onboard, and complete ongoing education with all IRB members as well as keep up to date records of all trainings. They will organize meeting agendas, submissions, and meeting minutes for all IRB meetings as well as any expedited reviews that occur outside of normal meeting agendas. The Specialist will maintain proper documentation as required by all laws and regulations and will represent the VH/WMC IRB as the main point of contact for any research related concerns from trial participants and/or others.
The Specialist will also lead the study account management and preparation and delivery of business analytics for the Valley Health Clinical Research Office. The Specialist will assist the Manager with developing clinical trial budgets, operating plans, and financial solutions that promote an environment of effective decision-making, revenue enhancement, cost efficiency, and sound business practices. Ensures the effective and timely coordination and communication with executives, sponsors, patient financial services, accounts receivable billing, staff and other external and internal customers. The Specialist will be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements and reconciliation reports for each study. Accountable as the entity liaison for the auditing process and completes all financial compliance and regulatory activities including contract compliance concerning the entities.
The Specialist's reporting responsibility is directly to the Manager of the Valley Health Clinical Research Department and indirectly to the VH/WMC IRB Chairperson and the VH Accounting Leadership. The Specialist will also include administrative support to the Manager of the Clinical Research Office and staff.
What You Will Bring:
Education

Bachelor's in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field required
Masters in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related Field preferred
Experience
2 years of experience in healthcare administration demonstrating progressive levels of responsibility required
Experience working in a healthcare related administration or coordinator role for a minimum of 2 years required
Experience within Human Subject Research preferred
Previous Budgeting, Accounting, and contract management experience preferred
Experience in human subject research preferred
Certification & Licensures
Certification as an IRB Professional (CIP) required within 3 years of hire
CPA or other related professional certification preferred
Qualifications
Demonstrated success working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams of external and internal individuals.
Well organized, high energy, effective at multi-tasking, self-motivated, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of basic information systems (Word, Excel, Adobe, and other database applications).
Knowledge of Hospital Coding/Billing.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and set appropriate priorities. Exceptional organizational skills, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Must have a strong oral and written skills to be able to lead IRB meetings and assist in redirecting meetings as needed. Work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
