Valley Health Associates is Hiring a Development Director Near Salinas, CA

Job Title: Development Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Schedule: This is an exempt, full-time

Scope: The Development Director role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities focused on advancing the organization's mission through strategic fundraising and relationship-building efforts. The Development Director will oversee marketing and communications while working cohesively with the grants team to implement comprehensive fundraising strategies. This position has a primary focus on securing individual and corporate contributions as well as establishing and executing one-, two-, and three-year fundraising plans including at least one recurrent annual fundraising event.

Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising Strategy:

· Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve annual revenue goals, focusing on individual and corporate contributions and relationships.

· Identify and pursue new funding opportunities while strengthening existing donor relationships.

· Coordinate and execute fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives that fit into one-, two-, and three-year plans.

2. Individual Giving:

· Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, focusing on major gifts, planned giving, and annual giving programs.

· Develop and implement strategies to increase donor retention and engagement.

3. Corporate Partnerships:

· Research and identify potential corporate partners and sponsors.

· Develop and maintain relationships with corporate donors and sponsors to secure financial support and in-kind contributions.

· Collaborate with the marketing team to create mutually beneficial partnerships.

4. Grant Assistance:

· Research and identify local grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and others.

· Prepare compelling grant proposals, ensuring compliance with grant guidelines.

· Other grant application assistance as assigned by the Executive Director and Grant Consultant.

5. Networking and Relationship Building:

· Represent the organization at events, conferences, and community gatherings to build a network of potential supporters.

· Collaborate with the executive team and board members to leverage their networks for fundraising opportunities.

6. Donor Management:

· Create and oversee the implementation of donor recognition programs.

· Maintain, organize, and update donor database.

7. Budget Oversight:

· Work collaboratively with finance to develop and manage the development budget.

· Monitor fundraising expenses and ensure cost-effectiveness in all development activities.

Performance Metrics: The following performance metrics will be assessed. Objective: Secure fundraising contributions to achieve specific financial targets over the course of four years, with an emphasis on sustained growth.

Expectations:

· Alerts Executive Director to potential crises or urgent situations and/or incidents.

· Attends all required trainings and administrative meetings.

· Possess strong leadership skills and work collaboratively with colleagues.

· Upholds the Organization’s Code of Ethics.

· Self-motivated and fast learner.

· Possess good analytical skills.

· Develop and maintain strong community ties.

· Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Fundraising certification is a plus.

· Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, with an emphasis on individual and corporate contributions.

· Strong track record of successfully securing major gifts and managing donor relationships.

· Exception written and verbal skills.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

· Experience with Blackbaud or other donor databases a plus.

· Ability to develop and articulate a compelling case for support.

· Knowledge of the substance abuse treatment sector is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
