Summary: Under the direction of the Security Supervisor and/or Nurse Manager or designee, maintain peace and order throughout the Hospital. Assure compliance with all Hospital policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental and infectious control and all regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Obtain signatures from all visitors.
• Maintain visitor logs.
• Make rounds in a timely and unpredictable manner.
• Provide assistance to nursing staff or any other person who may need reinforcement.
• Establish positive interaction with patients and visitors.
• Enforce Hospital policies related to safety and security.
• Provide written documentation of visitor/ patient complaints and concerns.
• Communicate any problems to manager in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Knowledge and Job Skills:

• Oral and written communication skills, basic computer skills.
• Able to participate in managing physically aggressive/combative patients, visitors, etc.
• Able to deal with crises.
• Able to lift patients.
• Physical dexterity.
• Able to recognize untoward, emergent or unusual situations or behaviors.
• Able to work in a manner that assures the safety of oneself, others and equipment.

Position Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED) required.

Experience: Law enforcement Military or Hospital security experience helpful. Driver's License required

Hours offered for both positions:

FT 3x12 hour shifts (Every other weekend REQUIRED)

Hours: 8pm-8:30am

Pay Rate:

$18 base and shift differentials vary depending on times worked below.

Differential pay rates:

M-F 3pm-11pm $1/ 11pm-7am $2

Weekends 3pm-11pm $2/ 11pm-7am $3

Special Factors: Access all areas of Hospital. Repeated bending, squatting, walking, standing, sitting, lifting. Physically restrain aggressive/ combative patients/family member, etc. Heavy lifting (able to move up to 100 pounds). Vision and hearing within normal limits. Exposed to extremes of weather. Must have valid driver’s license. Exposure to environmental hazards and infectious diseases. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
