Valley Farms Dairy is Hiring a Plant Supervisor Near Buffalo, NY

Summary:

Working within the limits of authority and within Company policies and procedures, directs the activities of the operation in areas of Trailer Load-Out, Production, Maintenance and Quality Control. The Warehouse/Production Supervisor is to maintain shipping and load-out activities while maintaining production efficiently and safely within established policy and processes. This position will involve occasionally covering for existing Supervisor vacations and scheduled days off. The position will demand the individual be able to work primarily night shift and well as different days of the week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achievement of established department goals of load-out, production volume, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to employees for the purpose of development and establishing a good working atmosphere.
  • Coordinates daily load-out and production activities in order to meet business objectives.
  • Communicates non compliances in a timely fashion to appropriate Managers for corrective action.
  • Maintain warehouse selection accuracy by managing, promoting, and directing the use of any order selection technology (such as scanning or voice to pick systems).
  • Communicates with department managers to maintain efficient operations.
  • Assigns job responsibilities to employees, according to policies, to meet planned shipping and production schedules insuring that the proper equipment and operating techniques are followed.
  • Monitors changes in employee morale and works to resolve problems within departments.
  • Maintains employee records such as time sheets, absences, tardy records, overtime, and safety as required.
  • Ensures standard operating procedures for job functions are accurate and up to date.
  • Maintains product/code rotation of Cooler and Plant inventory.
  • Responsible for assigned safety program.
  • Conducts accident investigations as needed.
  • Responsible for Cooler and Plant employee job performance, including safety, orientation, training and discipline.
  • Assures compliance with employee relations policies and programs.
  • Monitors and enforces all Company policies.
  • Instructs and trains present and future employees as needed.
  • Coordinates with production and purchasing in monitoring inventory control and variances of all shipping, packaging and processing supplies.
  • Coordinates load-out schedules, production runs, bills of lading, trailer inventories and master sanitation schedules.
  • Leads continuous improvement activities to improve safety, losses, performance results, processes and costs.
  • Leads the production team to maintain filler end times, efficiencies, OEE, documentation and sanitation start up.
  • Leads the sanitation team to maintain quality and sanitation requirements on fillers, tanks, lines and other pieces of equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the performance of direct reports
  • Ability to think analytically
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Must show enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work and a commitment to the organization and its mission
  • Good computer skills, demonstrating proficiency in MS Windows, Word and Excel
  • Good human relations skills, ability to work well with others and be a team member

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Business discipline.
  • Prior experience in Dairy/Food manufacturing and/or warehousing.

Pay: $58,609-$76,191/year

*The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components of the total rewards package may include participation in group health and/or dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time away from work, and paid holidays.
