Valley Community Association Inc. is Hiring an After School Coordinator Near Buffalo, NY

Position Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to: (1) to provide a comprehensive after school program that meets the requirements of the NYS Dept. of Education, the Office of Children and Family Services, and other grantor guidelines and (2) initiate, coordinate, and disseminate all necessary communication related to the activities of the Valley Community Association through identified vehicles.

Accountability:

This position is managed by and reports to the Executive Director.

Desired Qualifications:

The position of After School/Public Relations Coordinator requires a B.S. degree in Education or a related area and/or three years of experience satisfactorily performing comparable tasks. The Coordinator must have exceptional oral and written communication skills, be able to establish and maintain relationships with various media outlets, school administrators, parents, students and members of the local community. A very high level of organizational skill is needed to meet the performance measures of this position. The ability work as an effective team member is critical.

Responsibilities:

Youth and After School Programs:

  • To achieve performance target outcomes as stated in grant contracts.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain all aspects of the youth and After-School Programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local schools through dialogue with the principals, guidance counselors, teachers and parent organizations.
  • Recruit and sign up students to participate in the “Striving for Excellence” program.
  • Track the progress of each student enrolled in the program
  • Progress Reports
  • Report Cards
  • Weekly Progress Reports completed by Tutors
  • Parent and Teacher comments
  • Other pertinent information
  • Asset Surveys and other validated tools
  • Create and maintain relationships with parents/guardians of the children enrolled in the program.
  • Assist in other actives as determined by the Executive Director.

Administrative

  • Ensure that all grant guidelines are met in regard to the After School and Youth programs.
  • Supervise staff including, Tutors, Computer Instructors, Recreation Aides, and Social Workers.
  • Coordinate all activities, events, field trips, clubs, leagues, presentations, workshops, etc. to avoid unnecessary conflicts with the programs.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire any needed personnel.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings, trainings, and workshops.

Communication

  • Generate and distribute all press releases, media alerts, marketing materials, etc. to local media outlets.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local media outlets.
  • Creating the quarterly organizational newsletter and coordinate it’s printing with a local printing company.
  • Post the quarterly organizational newsletter on the website.
  • Create and distribute organizational promotional materials including, but not limited to, slingers, fliers, posters, and brochures.

Valley Community Association Responsibilities

Volunteer at the St. Patrick’s Day parade and hooley and a minimum of other 2 fundraisers per year.

Other duties as needed.

Pay Rate: $25-$28/hr. depending on experience

Work Week: M-F; 9:30 am – 6 pm (Hours may vary depending on activities.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $58,240.00 per year
