Valley Cities is Hiring a Food Service Worker | Interim | Inpatient Near Kent, WA

This is an Intrim position with the possibility of moving into a part time or full time cook position

Position Summary

The Food Service Worker will report to the Program Manger and will be responsible for assisting in all kitchen operations for RPK including planning, preparing, and executing meal production, inventory management, maintaining a food safety plan and executing menu and recipe standards.

Essential Job Functions

· Adhere to culinary standards and regulations and that all product goes out in a timely manner at the required temperature.

· Create recipe specs and standards.

· Plan menus, maintaining financial responsibility for the menu mix.

· Analyze menu, food costs and the preparation of cost and quality efficient menus/specials.

· Assist in preparing reports regarding food and menu analysis.

· Respond to guest inquiries and concerns personal.

· Design new menu selections for the Cafe based on donations, seasonal ingredients, and guest demand, showcase affinity for and knowledge of local product.

· Maintain effective vendor relationships.

· Track, record and replenish all food and inventory as needed.

· Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness.

· Assist in maintaining the highest possible rating from the Health Department.

· Continuously develop and test recipes as well as techniques for food preparation and presentation to ensure high quality.

· Assists in the assurance of consistent food qualities in both presentation and preparation.

· Ensures the maintenance of kitchen equipment daily and during events while working with offsite caters.

· Report and document hazardous conditions or unsafe practices within the work environment

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

· Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.

· Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative, leadership, and management skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers License
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to drive agency vehicle.
  • Possess valid auto insurance.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Experience working in a professional kitchen.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High level of attention to detail and organization
  • Pass required background checks.

Working Conditions

Work is performed inside and outside in varying temperatures. Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift to 75 pounds, twisting and stooping requiring upper and lower body strength. Employee may be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee is sitting, most of the time. Employee is also required to stand, walk, type, bend, write, read, interpret, and explain complex issues, work on a computer, and speak on the telephone.

Pay: $20.75 - $26.36 per hour
