Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated, friendly, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our growing healthcare team in Palmer, Alaska. You will collaborate with providers and other staff to provide the most comprehensive care possible to our patients. Our ideal candidate has receptionist experience, excellent customer service, and strong computer skills.
Summary of Duties
Our Medical Receptionist will manage our front desk daily and perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. In this position, you will be the first point of contact for our patients. You will welcome patients and greet people who visit the business. To be successful in this position, you should have a pleasant and professional personality as this is a customer service role. Multitasking and working well under pressure are essential for this position.
Medical Receptionist Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
· Check patients in and out for their appointments
· Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
· Collect co-pays and co-insurances
· Communicate clearly and directly with patients
· Fill out and update patient documents and charts
· Schedule and track follow-up appointments
· Complete documentation in EHR
· Answer phones and direct calls to the correct line
· Keep reception area neat, tidy, and organized
· Prepare patient charts
· Process patient payments and posting in the patient ledger
· Schedule appointments from incoming referrals
· Maintain and follow HIPAA policies and procedures
· Other relevant duties as assigned
Medical Receptionist Requirements and Qualifications
· At least 2 years of experience in a hospital or other health care setting and/or 2 years of experience in a receptionist/front desk position
· Understanding of standard medical practices and procedures
· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation
· Must successfully pass a background check and drug test
· Typing speed of at least 60 wpm
· Excellent communication skills and proficiency in computer programs
