Mortgage Loan Originator (Sales)

Position Summary:  Responsible for the origination and profitability of residential and construction mortgage loans. Promotes the Bank and its services to the real estate community and participates in activities to increase the Bank’s share of the local mortgage market.

Knowledge: A four-year degree in a business related field or equivalent experience is required. Knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA/USDA and other government lending regulations, conventional loan requirements and real estate law. Must be able to obtain State and NMLS Certifications.

Experience: A minimum of two to five years experience in a financial services industry, specifically in mortgage loan origination, is required. Experience in customer relations is required.

Skills: Position requires well-developed human relations skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact effectively with associates, clients, realtors and attorneys. Must be proficient with computers and calculator. Ability to learn and use Bank software and database. Knowledge of FICS Loan Producer, Ellie Mae Encompass, Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter, USDA GUS, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

Scope of Decisions: This position has no loan approval or credit authority. Has direct impact on Bank public relations and business development, and oversights or errors could affect the profitability and efficiency of the mortgage lending area.
