UVA Medical Center is Hiring a Director of Nursing, Cardiovascular Near Charlottesville, VA

The Cardiovascular Nursing Director is a key leader in driving high quality team member and patient outcomes and partner with other leaders on the strategic program development. A successful candidate is a role model for transformational leadership, is accountable for inpatient operational oversight, and a collaborative partner in delivering optimal cardiovascular care at a Magnet® designated academic medical center. Fosters a work environment which promotes inter-professional collaboration, effective communication, team member engagement and retention, and professional growth and development both within assigned departments as well as throughout the organization and community served. Effectively manages human resources. Actively participates in the evaluation, creation, and implementation of policies and procedures to integrate current scientific evidence with standards of practice. Ensure internal and external regulatory standards are met or exceeded. Ensure human, space and material resource allocation aligns with department needs. Engage with key stakeholders to develop plans to address resource deficits/surpluses in the ever changing health care field. Continually assess and improve the department’s performance in all areas to include, yet not limited to, customer service, quality clinical care and financial goals. Accountable for achieving clinical outcomes as defined by national standards and the organization's strategic plan. Participates in leadership activities to support the strategic plan of the Medical Center. Accurately forecasts and manages budget for the department(s). Assures development of and participates in programs which address continuous quality improvement and system enhancements. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Position Compensation Range: $127,857.60 - $204,568.00 Annual MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 1 year of hire. Experience: 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience, required. Management experience in an Academic Medical Center and Magnet organization preferred. Excellent Mentoring, Training, Coaching and Effective Communication skills preferred. Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification preferred. Applicable specialty and/or administration certification strongly preferred at hire or within 3 years. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
