UTMB Health Careers is Hiring a Patient Services Specialist I Near Galveston, TX

NOTE: This is a pooled posting created for applications to ALL of our Patient Services Specialist I openings - ALL LOCATIONS.

If you apply to this position your application will be considered for ALL Patient Service Specialist I openings across UTMB. Please answer the screening questions, while completing your application in step 3, so we know the following as we consider you for open positions:

  • Locations you are open to working.
  • If you are open to being considered for our urgent care locations.
    • Must be open to working a possible rotating schedule of evenings, weekends and holidays.
    • Working in the urgent care there is a shift differential (when applicable) for working evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • If you are open to being considered for our Star Squad Ambulatory Float Pool.
    • ​​​​As a member of our STAR Squad you will also receive premium pay at $3.50/hr.
    • Rotating shifts may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Travel between clinics is required.
  • What type of schedule you are open to being considered for.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Patient Services Specialist I creates a positive patient experience by consistently exceeding expectations in customer service and patient care, by coordinating clerical and medical activities of a healthcare team, patient registration activities, and facilitating access to UTMB services for new and returning patients.

Our ideal candidate will have medical office support experience including:

  • Patient scheduling
  • Insurance Verification
  • Assisting patients

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Patient Service Specialist I: 

  • Bachelor's Degree and no experience.

or

  • High School or equivalent and two years customer service and/or clerical experience.

SALARY RANGE: The salary range for this position is $15.38/hr - $23.08/hr, commensurate with experience.
