Overview

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a database of unit costs and productivity rates
  • Perform specification and drawing reviews, including quantity take off
  • Apply unit costs and productivity rates to quantities to develop low voltage and technology project estimates
  • Assess project risks as related to safety, scope, schedule, and budget
  • Create and organize project documents, including:
    • Construction documents
    • Internal communication and expectations
    • Customer communication, decisions, agreements
    • Third-party documentation with designers, AHJ and other project stakeholders
  • Proactively manage and track projects, using project tracking logs, from winning the bid to completing the work in conjunction with the leadership team and project staff
    • Establish project objectives, performance, and quality standards and lays out the project plan in accordance with contract specifications
    • Assign work to the project team
    • Initiate and maintain contact with customers and other people to facilitate project activities
    • Monitor and control projects; provide direction to onsite foremen to drive schedule and adhere to established budget and profitability goals
    • Represent the company in project meetings and attend strategy sessions
    • Work with contract administrators
  • Manage the material/equipment submittal process, including assembly, review, processing, and tracking
  • Manage the procurement process, including issuance and tracking of Purchase Orders, expediting delivery, inventory management, and delivery to job sites
  • Create and update project schedules
  • Manage project finances, including revenue and cost projections, WIP updates, and change order management.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to produce pay applications and ensure timely payment.
  • Comply with, support, and enforce Utilitra's safety culture
    • Ensure all assigned personnel use/wear all appropriate personal protective equipment and tools
    • Foster an environment where safety is expected; correct unsafe behavior immediately and consistently
    • Diligently monitor safety in all situations; proactively work to prevent accidents and injuries at all times
    • Stop work that is being performed in an unsafe manner
    • Take corrective/disciplinary action for repetitive safety violations
    • Reinforce safety rules and the importance of everyone going home safely in meetings, toolbox talks, JSAs, and other opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to customer/owner project requirements
  • Manage project closeout process, including assembling record documents, Operations & Maintenance manuals, and financial closeout documentation
  • Assist with the management of Utilitra's on-site fleet and rental equipment
  • Travel to job sites to bid and monitor progress. Overnight travel less than 10%
  • Other duties as assigned or prudent
  • Cross-train in all facets of the Department, preparing to fill in for anyone absent and grow in responsibility and scope over time.

The person in this role will uphold the culture of Utilitra, including relationship building with customers as well as general behavior on Utilitra or client premises or at Utilitra-sponsored events.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Commercial and Industrial technology and low voltage projects experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 5 years of industry experience
  • Strong communication and influencing skills required
    • Negotiation skills
  • Critical thinking skills Ability to adhere to a schedule and reliably show up for all scheduled shifts on time
  • Strong skills in organization, communication, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and bidding software
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements:

  • Potentially climb ladders or scaffolding to perform inspections
  • Sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb, or balance may be required to perform inspections on job sites
  • Must be able to identify the color and distinguish textures both close up and at a distance
