Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Mission Statement:

Utah Autism Academy (UAA) provides individualized services for people with autism spectrum disorder. Job Description:

The primary function of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is to plan, develop, and monitor a variety of treatment goals to meet the needs of clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The BCBA also consults with and teaches our team members regarding proactive strategies, programming, and behavior supports; develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans; and collaborates with team members, related services providers, families, and other agencies as appropriate. The BCBA manages the client’s team of support and provides ongoing training and direct supervision to team members.

Job Requirements:

  • Use appropriate assessment instruments and data to develop and implement teaching programs that reflect behavioral and other outcomes and objectives identified in the Treatment Plan. Ensure the implementation of treatment plans through observations and use professional knowledge and independent judgment to strategize continuous improvements.
  • Provide training and supervision of Registered behavior technicians through observations, meetings, performance checks and other methods.
  • Establish and maintain data measurement, collection, and analysis systems for clients receiving behavior interventions. Maintain appropriate documentation and prepare and complete reports as required.
  • Ensure that all treatment plans and programs comply with contract requirements, satisfy all relevant insurance certification and other expectations, and meet or exceed professional standards. Maintain highly organized, consistent, thorough, and systematic recordkeeping practices.
  • Seek creative options for ensuring the continuity and consistency of treatment and support services across settings for each client. Develop strategies for the stability of quality services when clients experience transitions.
  • Provide consultation, training, and assistance for parents and caregivers.
  • Participate in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, team meetings and program visitations.
  • Accept all other responsibilities as assigned.

What a typical day at UAA looks like:

Our BCBAs and techs arrive at least 15 mins prior to clients at 8:15, just in time for a quick morning meeting with coworkers. Get your schedule for the day and get ready for clients to arrive! Clients begin to arrive at 8:30 and techs begin the daily schedule customized for each client. Some days involve community outings that techs attend as a group with clients. We could go to the park, swimming pool, grocery store, gym, or maybe a restaurant! Customize community outings based on the needs of your clients!! At the center and on our community outings, we focus on daily living skills, increasing communication skills, social skills, pre academics, and learning to access the community. The day is broken up into 3 sessions. After each of our 3 sessions, techs have a change in clients. We make sure they have variety throughout the day, while also making sure they are familiar with the clients they are working with. Our clients leave by 3:30 each day. Techs stay for an afternoon meeting to get face time with other techs and the BCBAs and leave at or before 4:00. An afternoon staff meeting one day a week will run until 5:00.
