Job Summary

Experienced Central Sterile Processing Coordinator to be in charge of ordering Surgical Instruments, building new sets and maintaining department instrument inventory. Works directly with Clinical Leads and Surgeons to fill surgical instrument requests.

Experience and Education

  • High School Degree/Diploma
  • Three (3) years or greater experience as Central Sterile Technician. One to two (1-2) years experience in Coordinating sterile processing activities is required.
  • Current Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Certification required.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for all dept. scope and instrument repairs and maintaining in and out logs. Identifies problems and attempts to solve minor issues prior to seeking assistance from Central Sterile Manager/Director. Assists in repair, loan and borrow process of surgical supplies and instruments. 
  • Identify and maintain par levels for SPD supplies to include: detergents, instrument cleaning supplies, testing and instrument wrap. 
  •  Makes self available to assist with all phases of sterile processing. Performs technical functions required of Central Sterile Technician II.
  • Serves as professional and technical subject matter expert and resource person. Maintains current working knowledge regarding latest technology pertinent to central sterile supplies, instrumentation, and equipment. Stays up-to-date on current legal and regulatory standards regarding central sterile processes.
  • Wears and ensures appropriate personal protective equipment is worn while working in decontamination room. Ensures that fragile instruments and scopes are handled delicately. Ensures that instruments, supplies, and equipment are issued. Capable of performing regulatory audits of the department 
  • Collects and records IUSS results monthly and delivers to SPD director 
  • Responsible for RASMUS recall notices and will reply in timely fashion 
  • Support clinical leads in completing changes to count sheetsWorks closely with the Operating Room Liaisons on instrument and add-on needs 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
