Job Summary and Qualifications

• The Sterile Processing Director is responsible for all department functions in support of the hospital mission, vision and facility goals.
• Provides leadership, clinical expertise, and functional direction to Sterile Processing Manager, Supervisors and staff to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Evaluates quality of department practices in relation to established professional and legal standards.
• Functions as Director and subject matter expert related to standards of practice for sterile processing with oversight for all areas where decontamination of instrumentation, reprocessing, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and other items used in surgery/procedural areas occurs.
• Manages competently and cooperatively with other leaders and staff to promote and ensure effect and timely turnover and support of all needed items and effectively manages to achieve targets and department and organizational strategic goals.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Five years of Surgical Services or Sterile Processing Management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
• Demonstrates knowledge of financial implications of materials, equipment, and human resources.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

• Sterile Processing Technician Certification required from HSPA also formerly known as IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
