JOB SUMMARY:

Under physician supervision, the perfusionist will be responsible for extracorporeal cardiopulmonary support, provide ancillary duties during various cardiothoracic and transplant procedures for our pediatric and adult patient population.

The clinician will be responsible in utilizing a range of equipment designed for cardiopulmonary support, autologous cell salvage, rapid blood volume resuscitation, and as well as equipment for oncological procedures (i.e., Hipec).

This is an academic institution that supports professional development through continuing education, seminars, and academic partnerships with other institutions.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an ABCP accredited School of Perfusion with a bachelor’s degree in a recognized field of science or learning directly related to the duties of the position is required.

EXPERIENCE:

None. New graduates welcomed. Pediatric interest/experience is beneficial.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Fundamental knowledge and skills related to cardiopulmonary perfusion.
• Must have an advance knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, fundamental physics, biochemistry, etc.
• The ability to work long hours under stressful conditions.
• Have amendable interpersonal communication skills.
• Work well with several different disciplines and departments in a team-orientated environment.
• Must be able to work with electronic documenting and monitoring equipment.
• Must have clear understanding, or willingness to seek further training, for appropriate equipment and disposables.

JOB DUTIES:

• Perform duties based on best clinical practices.
• Coordinate with leadership on daily assignments.
• Perform additional administrative duties relative to the case (i.e., charges, supplies, checklists, productivity, etc.).
• Safely set up and manage the heart-lung machine (HLM) in a timely manner.
• Maintain annual or frequent performance assessments for relative equipment (i.e., point of care devices)
• Maintain and/or troubleshoot perfusion and ancillary equipment.
• Maintain an organized clean workspace and meet JACHO standards for sterile and sub-sterile work areas.
• Must be able to fulfill all call responsibilities. Be readily available to respond and on-site within 30 minutes as needed.
• Capturing and reporting relevant STS clinical data.
• Provide guidance and training as a clinical instructor or mentor for rotating students/residents and new employees.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $61,502.79 - $74,067.88 per year
