Purpose of Position

The High School and Youth Team Play Coordinator provides program guidance and support for USTA Florida’s Junior Team Tennis and High School Programs, helping to provide resources and expand play opportunities in all areas of the state.

Essential Functions

High School Tennis

  • Serves as primary point of contact and subject matter expert high school tennis coaches in the State of Florida and with the Florida State High School Athletic Association.
  • Is familiar with high school rules and schedules, supports the District and State Championships and promotes out-of-season and junior varsity play.
  • Develops and executes training and education opportunities for high school tennis coaches in collaboration with USPTA Florida and PTR.
  • Work with marketing team to maintain high school tennis web hub and all related communications to coaches.
  • Advances USTA Florida Foundation grant programs to support high school tennis programs (both new and expanded programs).

Junior Team Tennis

  • Assists Team Play Manager in identifying new growth opportunities and training seasonal staff on Tennis Link/Serve Tennis.
  • Works with the marketing team to update the JTT pages on the web site and develop marketing materials and promotions for each season.
  • Provides assistance and general support to all JTT Leagues.
  • Oversees the JTT online store, working with vendor to select items, process invoices and refill, when needed.
  • Assists Team Play Manager with planning and coordination of USTA Florida JTT State and Sectional Event.
  • Assists Team Play Manager with administrative duties, such as processing expense reports and preparing budgets/ordering items for each league/season.
  • Other duties as assigned by team leader.

  • Travel required – Must be able to visit and engage with programs in various parts of the State

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of high school tennis and athletic rules via the FHSAA
  • Three years of experience as a high school teacher and/or coach
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a record that meets our company’s insurance standards
  • Must have the ability to travel and have reliable transportation
  • Proficient with Serve Tennis/Tennis Link
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Excel, Office 365, and Outlook
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Must have a professional and positive attitude
  • Must be able to pass the USTA Safe Play and USTA Florida Section background checks

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Detail oriented with experience in accurate record keeping
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Adaptable to the changing environments around the organization and tennis industry
  • Bilingual – verbal and written preferred

Work Environment

  • Generally, works in an office environment, but also must be able to work outdoor events
  • Work shifts may vary – flexibility is required

Physical Demands

  • Medium - 20 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds periodically
