Position Summary

The Sr Project Manager role requires a deep background in agile software development, along with strong organizational and communication skills. Key factors for this position include: 

  • Ability to elicit high level business requirements from stakeholders and break those down into consumable components for a development team. 
  • Ability to organize and lead one or potentially multiple software development teams simultaneously. 
  • Solid leadership and client relationship skills, as this individual will be representing the team to the customer. 
  • Ability to take on manager responsibilities for all team members. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily.  

  • Serve as team liaison for business stakeholders and become a product expert as it relates to market direction and user feedback. 
  • Break down business requirements into a fully consumable backlog of scope for the development team. 
  • Prioritize backlog and interpret regular feedback from stakeholders to adjust this prioritization and scope.  
  • Lead agile ceremonies. 
  • Work with client and internal organization counterparts to remove impediments for the team. 
  • Provide organizational oversight and escalate issues as appropriate. 
  • Team leadership and management.

Qualifications

Education / Experience 

  • 4 years’ experience in a similar functional role within a software development team. 

Technical Skills 

  • Strong Leadership skills with at least 2 years leading an agile development team. 
  • Strong skills within a project management tool.  
  • Experience with Agile, backlog grooming, spring planning and working in SAFe
  • Advanced level skills with one or more project management tools such as Rally, TFS, Jira, etc. 
  • Certification for either Scrum Master or Product Owner via accredited organization, such as Scrum Alliance or Scrum.org. SAFe certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with 1 or more web technology stacks 
  • For Product Owner roles, some ability to create UI mockups and wireframes. 
  • Understanding of project scheduling and how it applies to both Waterfall and Agile. 
  • Good understanding of organizational psychology and how to work within a client organization to get things done even when they don’t have formal authority. 
  • Must have experience setting up and configuring dashboards and report creation in Azure DevOps
  • Ideally, Digital Transformation experience
  • Must be willing to go onsite in Detroit, MI twice a month
