The University of SouthernMississippi invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track facultyposition as Assistant/Associate Professor/Head of Gulf Coast Libraries in UniversityLibraries to begin in the fall of 2022.

Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Dean ofUniversity Libraries, the incumbent has leadership responsibility for thesupervision and administration of Gulf Coast Libraries, including GunterLibrary, while holding tenure or tenure-track faculty status and rank.
1. Plans and administers the USMGC Libraries’ budgets in collaboration with the Dean of the University Libraries and the Gulf Coast Campus leadership.
2. Works collaboratively with academic faculty and administrative support areas to ensure integration of library planning into overall academic planning.
3. Works cooperatively with personnel throughout the University Libraries system to coordinate policies and procedures to improve services, operations, and security of the organization as a whole and ensure compliance with all university, state, and federal regulations and laws.
4. Ensures the provision of excellent customer service. Recommends, develops and implements services, policies and procedures that deliver user-friendly library services and continually assesses and evaluates these services.
5. Strengthens the Libraries’ educational programs to facilitate and support faculty research and student learning, focusing on efforts that improve the information literacy skills of undergraduates.
6. Supervises personnel of Gulf Coast libraries.
7. Contributes as a senior member of the libraries’ leadership team to library-wide planning, building design, personnel management and planning, and budgeting decisions, including setting the libraries’ strategic directions.
8. Engages in scholarly activity and professional development and provides service to the Libraries, the University, and the library profession to fulfill the expectations of a tenured or tenure-track faculty member.
9. Seeks funding to support USMthrough developing relationships with potential donors, supporters, and fundingagencies. Promotes the library's need for gifts and donations. Performs other duties as assigned.
