Responsibilities

Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients while performing studies; evaluates the clinical history of a patient with the test to be performed; consults with physicians to determine appropriate ultrasonic procedures required; recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the oscilloscope at all times; differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognizes electronic equipment limitations; properly labels, coats, and mounts the permanent recording of the scans for protection and filing; researches, develops, and recommends new procedures and techniques to be used; provides in-service training to students and other personnel in ultrasound; maintains scan logs and procedure manuals; maintains service records on ultrasound equipment; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and four years allied health or patient care experience, two of which must have been full-time clinical ultrasound or vascular experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as designated by theARDMSregistry eligibility requirements.RDMSregistry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
