Responsibilities

Provide vital support to develop, promote, and support sports medicine operations within the USA Health Family Medicine and Orthopaedic departments; oversee the coordination of the Sports medicine department, including community athletic trainers and residents school coverage; reports to and takes direction from Sports Medicine Fellowship Director and Health System Assistant Administrator, works with community athletic trainers, local high schools, and academic campus, and community partners to build relationships to promote USA Health and the USA Health Sports Medicine program; liaison between, patients, physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other patient services to provide fluid care for proper treatment of injuries and illnesses; help establish protocols, standards, and compliance for sports medicine program, including protocols for schools that are covered, getting injured athletes treatments, continuing education for athletic trainers; assists Sports Medicine Fellowship director with starting, maintaining, and growing concussion protocols for members of the community to access proper treatment and follow-up care for concussions and TBI's; builds effective relationships, takes initiative and meets objectives; provides accountability for the management and utilization of resources; provides training, guidance, and support to other personnel and staff as required; participates in Performance Improvement Activities; completes assigned tasks in a timely manner; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The minimum training and experience requirements for this classification are bachelor's degree in athletic training from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, five years of Athletic Training experience, one year of administrative, secretarial experience in a medical office setting, certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers and licensure as an Athletic Trainer with the state of Alabama.
