Position Title: Safety/Operations Compliance Specialist - Location: - South Central Louisiana - Baton Rouge LA, Geismar LA, or Harvey, LA - Travel: 50% within the assigned area. How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The Safety/Operations Compliance Specialist ensures company compliance with process, occupational and environmental safety by performing regular safety audits, training and inspections of machinery, equipment and general working conditions. The incumbent will assist in Company investigation(s) and follow-up(s) relative to vehicle accidents and employee injuries, property damage, near miss incidents and customer incidents involving Airgas USA, LLC supplied products. In particular, you will: - Coordinate and manage the Airgas Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management System for assigned facilities, conduct regular audits to identify existing or potential safety and health hazards, and recommend corrective or preventive measures when necessary to area and regional management teams. - Provide counsel and monitor compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to DOT, OSHA, EPA, DHS, and the FDA at assigned facilities. Assist with the formulation of general safety policies and procedures within the area and the region. - Provide process safety support to the area's fill plant locations, to include conducting audits, documenting findings and providing recommendations to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. - Consult on the safe design and use of equipment and facilities, in consideration of industry standards and company policies, procedures and programs. - Perform investigations of vehicle accidents, work-related injuries and serious safety incidents to determine causal factors as well as root cause; implement changes to help correct and prevent reoccurrence. Compile and submit reports required by company policy and regulatory agencies, as applicable. - Develop and lead safety and operational-type training programs to increase proficiency in safe practices & behaviors as well as satisfy company and regulatory requirements. ________________________ Are you a MATCH? Are you a MATCH? - Bachelor's degree in industrial or occupational safety preferred, or a similar discipline that would be considered relevant to this position. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, 3-5 years of previous work experience in a safety, compliance, or operations-related position is required. - Minimum 1-3 years of previous experience in a process safety role, to include having a strong understanding of regulatory PSM/RMP requirements, developing and interpreting Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and actively participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Risk Assessments. - Must possess working knowledge and understanding of DOT, OSHA, EPA, DHS, FDA rules and regulations - Proven ability to work independently and under tight deadlines in a detail-oriented environment - Must possess a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and appropriate level of auto insurance coverage.
