US House Of Representatives is Hiring a Public Information Specialist Near Washington, DC

Duties

Candidate will assist in the production, circulation and dissemination of public documents and information, assist Congressional staff with various research and reference services, and be responsible for quickly ascertaining, interpreting, and communicating the status of legislation in response to inquiries made by congressional staff and the public. Incumbent must perform data entry and master legislative information database systems. Candidate must possess the ability to utilize computerized and non-computerized resources for the maintenance, research, and retrieval of public disclosure information. Candidate must perform duties in a small workstation in an office environment without an expectation of privacy where noise levels are moderate.

Qualifications

Candidate must possess the temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner and the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the fulfillment of responsibilities. Exceptional communications skills are required for high volume telephone and computer usage. Candidate must possess superior organizational and administrative skills along with the ability to quickly research, retrieve and provide accurate information within a limited time frame. Thorough knowledge of legislative research tools, information resources, House procedures, and the legislative process is required. A college degree is preferred. Candidate must be physically capable of lifting and transporting boxes and documents. Candidate must be competent in the operation of a personal computer and be detailed and task oriented.
