US Equestrian Fed is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Lexington, KY

This position supports the Federation’s mission and vision by demonstrating a commitment to exemplary member service, as well as a collaborative spirit, equality, fairness, respect, and accountability.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of the Director of Accounting & Controller, prepare and post monthly journal entries, assist with bank reconciliations, compile month-end schedules, provide audit support, and support other initiatives within the Finance department as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enter revenue transactions in cash management
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned
  • Maintain monthly A/R schedules
  • Prepare monthly A/R reporting 
  • Perform revenue analysis
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of GL accounts
  • Oversee AHSD changes, processes, and procedures with regards to best practices
  • Assist with compiling audit schedules and responding to audit requests
  • Support other initiatives within the Finance Department 

Goals and Objectives:

  • Ensure financial information is accurate and in compliance with GAAP. 
  • Maintains financial security by reviewing and following internal controls.
  • Inconsistencies and errors in financial processes are documented and reported to the Senior Director of Accounting/Controller.
  • Work within the Finance department is completed within expected timeframes.
  • Assistance is provided to other department members when needed.

Required, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be detail oriented and capable of processing transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to GAAP accounting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise.

Education and Experience:

  • A degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other relevant field is required.
  • 3-5 years accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics GP, is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
