US Commander, Navy Installations is Hiring a Laborer Near Marietta, GA

Duties

  • You will be responsible for ensuring property cabins are property maintained; repairs, renovations or replacement of furnishings, appliances and utility systems, as required.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring property pavilions, tents, and campsites are property maintained; repairs and renovates as necessary. (i.e. picnic tables, barbecue grilles, bathhouses with laundry facilities.
  • You will ensure the grounds and all facilities are properly kept daily by making repairs and the maintenance of grounds, i.e. mowing, using leaf blowers, and continuous clean up.
  • You will be responsible for minor electrical repairs, plumbing, minor construction, and painting.
  • You will ensure proper operation and maintenance of the swimming beach during open season and ensuring safety rules are enforced and safety aids properly placed, i.e. signage, perimeter markets, lifeguard stands.
  • You will ensure proper operation of the boat docks; safety regulations are met with boats, dock maintenance, repair or replacement of parts.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint
qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Physical Effort
Work involves exposure to all types of weather, is predominately performed outside with maximum physical exertion. The employee is required to be capable of operating outside equipment, handling building and construction supplies and having stamina to withstand the outdoor elements on a continual basis. The work requires considerable standing, climbing, stooping, bending, stretching, kneeling, and work in cramped, awkward positions. Lifts and carries items weighing up to fifty pounds, and occasionally may lift or move, with assistance, heavier objects weighing more than fifty pounds.
Working Conditions
The diversity, complexity, and exposure to the weather elements at this work site requires the person to be absolutely aware of all safety standards and constantly be alert to alleviate those areas where hazards exist, and injury may occur. The outdoor facility is remotely located, dark at night, with limited visibility, requiring high standard of readiness and alertness. The incumbent may receive work related telephone calls during off-duty hours or be required to return to work at odd times to hand unusual or critical events associated with the operation of a recreation facility.
A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
