Duties
- Reviews recommendations and data input from field offices on fish and aquatic issues
- Works closely with the Lead Fish Biologist in the State Office on coordination issues with local interest groups
- Serves on interdisciplinary teams
- Conducts surveys and monitors existing aquatic management habitat projects.
- Serves as the point of contact for input to the aquatic resources portion of the annual work plan.

Qualifications
For GS-9: In addition to meeting the education requirement, you must possess one (1) At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: providing advisory expertise to support to fishery resource programs and projects; designing, planning and leading fishery surveys to collect and portray a variety of scientific information; significantly and substantively participating in the planning and implementation of scientific studies and projects in fishery management, such as at a level equivalent to a project leader that is broadly and specifically familiar with all aspects of project planning, data collection, applicable protocols, data analysis, reporting, and elements necessary to meet project objectives. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least TWO years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree (for example, fisheries biology, aquatic ecology, natural resource management, or other directly related subject matter). You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Only graduate credits in excess of 1st year (18 semester credits) of graduate school is applicable. You must include transcripts.
For GS-11: In addition to meeting the education requirement, you must have one year of full-time equivalent specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal service (GS-9); experience which has equipped me with the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the major duties of this position as described. To meet this requirement, you must have experience performing the following duties: developing and maintaining effective working relationships and liaison with private landowners, tribes, other federal, state, and local agencies, and the public regarding habitat restoration, developing or evaluating habitat protection or enhancement planning documents and biological reports; preparing briefing statements, reports, correspondence, presentations, etc. and coordinating efforts of multiple personnel involved in habitat or conservation and recovery for a wide variety of ecosystems.

Three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D.

possession of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a course of study that directly reflects the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position (e.g., major in fishery biology, ichthyology, limnology, fish culture, etc.).

A combination of education and experience as described above which together equals 100% of the requirement.

Individual Occupational Basic Requirements (Screen-Out) To meet the basic requirements for Fish Biology series 0482, you must possess one of the following basic qualifications by close of the announcement.
Degree: major in biological science that included:
At least 6 semester hours in aquatic subjects such as limnology, ichthyology, fishery biology, aquatic botany, aquatic fauna, oceanography, fish culture, or related courses in the field of fishery biology; and
At least 12 semester hours in the animal sciences in such subjects as general zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, entomology, parasitology, ecology, cellular biology, genetics, or research in these fields. (Excess course work in aquatic subjects may be used to meet this requirement when appropriate.)

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), of which a minimum of 6 semester hours were in aquatic subjects and 12 semester hours were in the animal sciences, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
