Position: General Manager
Reports To: Director of Retail & Supply Chain
Job Location: Desert Hot Springs, CA

SUMMARY:

Manages and performs all functions related to overseeing daily operations of a high-volume cannabis retail store. Responsible for overall execution of company initiatives, store financial performance and goals, and employee development. All job functions should be completed with the goal of positioning Harborside as the industry standard of excellence in providing clients with best in class service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to be all inclusive)

  1. Vision for excellence. Achieve the highest standards in retail execution.
  2. Set the standard for the client experience. Role model a client-first mentality.
  3. Impact and be present with the store teams. Coach and develop our employees daily with the highest standards.
  4. Hire, train, lead, and develop a dynamic store leadership group. Clearly communicate expectations and company goals.
  5. Achieve all required KPI's ensuring operational excellence and company success. Leverage data to make decisions. Grow the business. Develop strategic action plans based on Harborside's business needs.
  6. Deeply understand store P&L. Manage controllable operating expenses.
  7. Deliver communications to teams to ensure steadfast alignment to company goals and current initiatives. Encourage store teams to do their best work. Lead with clarity and inspiration.
  8. Follow through and provide feedback on marketing and merchandising programs.
  9. Be aware of competitive landscape. Pay attention to industry changes and standards.
  10. Be a change agent in the evolving industry of cannabis. Implement and manage transitions.
  11. Understand and enforce all policies, processes and relevant government regulations. Manage security resources and ensure the safety of all employees and clients on property.
  12. Manage with positivity and care for all clients and employees. Ensure standards and accountability.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Act as a liaison with community stake holders
  2. Use best judgment to resolve time sensitive Harborside issues
  3. Interview, assess and retain top talent. Hire the best in industry
  4. Manage contractors and 3rd party entities (cleaners, security, maintenance, etc.)
  5. Attend meetings and participate in team and professional development activities
  6. Provide timely and appropriate feedback to Supervisor
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team and gain consensus.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles. Ability to interpret financial dataand make critical business decisions.
  • Ability to forecast sales and results with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective planning and organization skills.

WORK CONTEXT:

Physical Requirements

  • Work is generally performed seated and requires some bending, stooping and reaching.
  • Work is generally performed both inside and outside a cannabis dispensary, or over the phone
  • Involves frequent contact with managers, staff, and outside service providers
  • Will be required to work a flexible schedule based on store needs, including working varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or events, on occasion
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds

Communication

  • Frequent contact with others via email, face-to-face discussions, and telephone.
  • Some communication required via mail and fax.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Business degree or equivalent professional qualification preferred
  • 5 years’ experience leading high volume, complex retail stores.
  • Must be 21 years old and pass a criminal background check per city regulations
