JOB SUMMARY:The purpose of the Resident Assistantis to promote choice, dignity, and expedient service by assisting in the performance of duties and other tasks that enhance the quality of life for residents.This position has responsibility for service to residents in a manner that promotes their safety and comfort and maintains good housekeeping standards within duty areas.

Resident Assistant Job Duties

• Makes rounds on the unit looking for items needing attention;

• Straighten utility rooms, linen rooms and pantry as needed;

• Assist with meal service.Successfully completes Paid Feeding Assistant Program and works under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse to feed or assist residents who do not have complicated feeding problems;

• Make beds and tidy rooms;

• Pass clean linen;

• Assure ice water is available on the units;

• Answer call lights and perform non-nursing duties – reporting to nursing when resident needs hands-on assistance or care from a licensed nurse;

• Responsible for miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Resident Assistant Physical Requirements:

• Able to push carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment

• Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, lifts up to 50 pounds

• Climbs stairs, reaches above or below shoulder heig
