UPPER VALLEY CAREER CENTER is Hiring an Adult Education Student Services Coordinator Near Dayton, OH

General Job Description:

Coordinates the provision of services to students in Adult Education programming. Helps students and alumni understand the interrelations of workforce training, career objectives, and balancing work and family. Serves as a student advisor for career opportunities and placement in the appropriate programs. Helps identify and resolve problems that impede student participation in adult education programs. Works to coordinate with students, instructors, student services, and outside organizations to insure student success. Coordinates student enrollment, actively participates in the student enrollment process.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates student services and admissions

  • Coordinates and maintains the Assessment Center and oversees testing security and compliance

  • Coordinates the student enrollment process

  • Actively works with students through the enrollment process

  • Coordinates student/alumni group meetings in compliance with federal and state regulations

  • Advocates for students. 

  • Works with various community agencies on behalf of the students and alumni

  • Refers students to community resources as needed.

  • Works with the accreditation process and ensures compliance.

  • Implements protocols to safeguard client/student information shared with staff and/or referral sources

  • Serves as the District Title IX Coordinator and Grievance Officer

  • Serves as a student advisor for career opportunities and placement in the appropriate programs

  • Allots time for individual counseling/advising

  • Helps prepare grant applications

  • Complies with federal, state, and local reporting requirements

 

Qualifications:

  • Prefer candidates to have a current Social Worker, Professional or Counselor Licensure.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

  • Work experience with adults is a plus. 

  • Must have certifications for the various testing platforms or be willing to get certification to maintain the Assessment Center.

  • Possesses work skills substantiated by training and/or relevant work experience.

  • Has the ability to follow complex instructions. Has the ability to recognize and correct errors independently.

  • Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.

  • Embodies high ethical standards and integrity. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.

  • Exhibits effective organizational, time-management and resourceful problem-solving skills.

  • Interacts confidently with others and displays a strong customer-service focus

  • Shows evidence of core computer competencies and speaks clearly using correct grammar.

  • Able to work a flexible work schedule of day and evening hours (8:00 am – 9:30 pm) plus some weekends.

  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements.

  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.

  • Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.

 

Salary:

Appropriate placement to be determined by education and experience. Salary will range from $49,634 to $64,549. Base contract is 225 days. Minimum workday 7.5 hours per day, exclusive of a lunch break. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

 

Other Benefits:

State Retirement System, Worker’s Compensation, paid sick/personal leave, partial tuition reimbursement, and tax-sheltered retirement contributions. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance offered. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.

 

Performance Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.

The Upper Valley Career Center provides career and technical education for high school students and post-secondary education for adults. Over 800 high school juniors and seniors are gaining skills in 27 career fields. High school students earn a diploma from their home/associate school.
