UpNorth Distribution is Hiring a Financial Support Specialist Near Eureka, CA

Department: Finance

Employment Classification: Hourly; Non-Exempt

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20-25/hour

Requirements: Must be 21 years of age or older, pass a background check and have a valid CA Driver's License with clean DMV Record. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English at the level of a college student. Be able to legally work in the United States.

Summary

The Financial Support Specialist role entails a wide spectrum of responsibilities, from upholding accurate financial records through meticulous data entry to collaborating with the finance team to ensure the precise and timely processing of financial transactions. In addition, you will step in to offer support when the current finance personnel are unavailable. The role also involves conducting regular cash counting and reconciliations while maintaining strict accuracy and adherence to established procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and data entry.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
  • Step in to provide support when the current finance personnel are unavailable.
  • Conduct regular cash counting and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
  • Help in monitoring and managing accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and compile financial information as needed.
  • Participate in financial audits and assist in ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • Reporting discrepancies.
  • Update financial spreadsheets with daily transactions.
  • Preparing expense reports for payroll processing.
  • Track and reconcile bank statements.
  • Other applicable tasks as necessary.
  • Upkeep cleanliness of the cash counting room

Preferred

  • A background in Finance, Accounting, or other related area preferred or 1-2 years of collections or accounting experience or a combination of both education and experience.
  • Experience in cash handling and knowledge of counting procedures are a plus.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and tools. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily onsite in an office environment; however, some tasks are off-site. Intermittent remote work may be possible upon approval from the supervisor. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and writing instruments.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role. To perform the required tasks of this position, a Financial Support Specialist needs to have and/or be able to:

  • Remain in a stationary position up to approximately 75% of the time and must be able to intermittently move short distances for up to 8 hours per day, including ascending and descending stairs.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, including a cash counting machine.
  • Position self to occasionally file, count cash, and perform other financial tasks as necessary.
  • Lift boxes and/or other items up to approximately 25 lbs. and carry them short distances.
