UPMC Altoona Stroke & Neurointervention is currently seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) or Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) to join their team. This role involves supporting the stroke team, which comprises four physicians, including two neurointerventionalists specializing in intracranial clot removal for emergent large vessel occlusion strokes. The position collaborates with existing physician assistants to manage the stroke service, from treating ICU patients to responding to emergent stroke codes and caring for floor patients.

Here are some key responsibilities for this role:

1. Stroke Code Response: As part of the stroke team, you’ll be responsible for promptly responding to stroke codes during daytime hours. Your expertise will help provide emergent care for suspected stroke patients.
2. Neuro Imaging Interpretation: As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you’ll be trained to read neuroimaging, including CT scans and MRIs. This skill is crucial for assessing and diagnosing stroke cases.
3. Initial Training Schedule: During the initial training period, your schedule will consist of five 8-hour shifts. Afterward, you’ll transition to four 10-hour shifts.
