Operations Equipment Specialist - 2nd Shift

Summary:
Direct involvement with all new equipment installations and integrations for Manufacturing and Packaging. Perform technological upgrades of Manufacturing and Packaging equipment. Work with Maintenance to trouble shoot equipment related issues. Represent Operations with manufactures / vendors for new equipment purchases, existing equipment upgrades, and repair of legacy equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop expertise in aggregation / serialization equipment technologies in Packaging.
2. Develop expertise in new equipment operation and software’s in Manufacturing on Fette presses, coaters, roller compactors.
3. Develop expertise in legacy equipment operation and software in Manufacturing and Packaging on fluid bed dryers, coaters, tablet presses, encapsulation machines, labelers, bundlers, sealers, etc.
4. Provide oversight for production equipment calibrations and scheduling with equipment manufacturers.
5. Provide training guidance to manufacturing / packaging on proper equipment set up and operation.
6. Provide guidance to engineering on new equipment selection and/or legacy equipment replacements on capital projects.
7. Interface with equipment manufacturers on performance specifications for new equipment.
8. Work with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering in optimizing new and legacy equipment.
9. Other duties may be required.
Knowledge Necessary to Perform the Job:
1. Knowledge of cGMP practices is essential.
2. Knowledge of company manufacturing, packaging, and equipment SOPs is essential
3. Knowledge of processes related to the packaging of solid dose pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions.
5. The ability to distinguish the proper type of tool to be used for a specific job.
Education/Experience:
Two-year certificate from a technical college or vocational school preferred or a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience with a strong electrical / electronic based background. Experience troubleshooting motor controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), CompactLogix controllers, and a working knowledge of engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering flow diagrams highly preferred. General knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing or experience in a regulated industry preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience or training is acceptable.
