Updater is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead/Staff Engineer to join our Home Platform division. As an individual contributor in the Lead/Staff Engineer role, you will play a critical role in driving the implementation and delivery of Home Platform’s products and services that automates move-in experiences for multi-family property organizations and reduces the friction for consumers during their move, ensuring the stability and success of the Home Platform platform and architecture, and creating a culture of collaboration and technical excellence within the Home Platform engineering team.

About the Role

• You will ship new platform capabilities and product features for Home Platform’s suite of products by leading the technical design, architecture processes, and team execution.
• You will improve overall software quality, reliability, and performance by collaborating with Product, Design, and business stakeholders.
• You will collaborate with engineers across the organization to define technical standards, improve development operations, and create a culture of engineering excellence.
• You will raise the bar for Home Platform’s engineering organization by interviewing, training, coaching, and mentoring other engineers, while applying a high standard of technical and professional expectations. 
• You will successfully deliver your team’s roadmap for Home Platform’s suite of products by leading the technical implementation as an engineering team lead.
• You will ensure that the team meets roadmap delivery obligations with respect to schedule, requirements, software quality, security, and reliability, by collaborating with the Product, QA, DevOps, Program Management, and business stakeholder teams.
• You will have the opportunity to create technical designs from product requirements and specifications.
• You will be in a position to review the team’s technical designs and code, ensuring a high standard of quality, security, performance, and reliability.
• You will be responsible for the integration and delivery pipeline of team-owned applications and code repositories to ensure rapid, agile delivery, successful integration with other internal and external applications, and minimizing defects and regressions.

About you

• You have 8 years of full-stack web software development expertise in one or more of the following languages/Frameworks : JavaScript, Ruby, Python, React, Angular, Vue.
• You have a proven track record as a development team lead in a fast-paced, collaborative startup development environment.
• You are a relational database expert with experience using MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
• You have deep unit, integration, and functional test proficiency, including proficiency in test automation frameworks like Cypress, Mocha, or Selenium.
• You’re experienced in project management in agile environments, using frameworks like scrum and software like Jira.
• You have proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tooling like CircleCI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write excellent technical documentation and collaborate with product and business stakeholders.
• You have experience developing and shipping scalable, reliable, and performant software-as-a-service (SaaS) for businesses and consumers alike.
• You have experience interviewing, training, coaching, and mentoring other software engineers as an individual contributor.
• You’re experienced and comfortable working in a distributed, asynchronous organization.
