Up To Date Laundry is Hiring a Class A Driver (CDL) Near Baltimore, MD
- Driving a tractor-trailer vehicle to transport and deliver hospital linen to the company’s customers.
- Interacting with personnel at customer locations.
- Physically Moving carts of linen (loaded & empty) on and off company vehicles.
- Performing pre and post trip inspections and entering them into Samsara under DVIR’s
- Responsible for other job-related duties as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with others.
- Work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.
- Must be able to adjust to requirements of schedule changes.
- Must answer company provided work phone when called.
- Complete tasks or continue in a course of action despite opposition or discouragement.
- Be reliable, dependable, and trustworthy in all aspects of work.
- Work under pressure and able to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
- Work alone and/or with other co-workers as a team effectively.
- Be able to document and comprehend certain items regarding pre-trip/post-trip reports.
- Be able to read and comprehend company-provided paperwork as well as simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
- Be able to effectively present information one-on-one to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Be able to comprehend and carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions effectively.
- Must be able to back 48 and 53 trailers proficiently.
- Ability to adapt to job duty and department changes, as required.
- Must be DOT qualified with a current class A CDL.
- 2 years of verifiable tractor/trailer experience and/or switching experience within the past 3 years.
- Driving record (MVR) must be acceptable.
- Speed limit is 5 mph from the street, around the office, and in front of the maintenance dock.
- A complete stop is required at all stop signs at all times.
- Obey all posted signs.
- Watch for and yield to pedestrians, cars and forklifts.
- Hazards (four-way) flashers must be on when entering or leaving property.
- The yard truck must be used for all trailer movements in the yard.
- In coming trailers must be dropped on the staging line and maneuvered onto the dock with the yard truck.
- All trailers on the staging line must have the nose of the trailer in the box marked in yellow on the ground.
- Before pulling a vehicle away from the dock, the driver is responsible for ensuring that:
- All personnel are out of the back of the vehicle.
- Load is secure.
- Dock plate is stowed away.
- Rear vehicle door is closed and latched.
- Dock door is closed
- Liftgate is up and secured properly.
- Verify dock light is green prior to pulling away
- Red dock light means unit is NOT ready to move
