Job Title: Financial Reporting & Accounting Analyst
Reports to: VP, Compliance, Investor Relations, and Subsidiary Reporting
Location: Atlanta
FLSA Status : Exempt
SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting the month end close processes (journal entry prep and posting, reconciliation of receivables and other balance sheet accounts) for subsidiaries and affiliated entities. Support the VP of Compliance, Investor Relations and Subsidiary Reporting with reporting (financial statements, variance analysis), tax compliance (sales tax, personal property, 1099 forms), and planning activities. Maintain programming assets and related amortization schedules. Assist with compliance activities related to filings, reports, and other official documentation to ensure compliance with UP's internal polices and practices and GAAP reporting guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Assets Accounting
  • Maintain programming assets and liability records for subsidiaries and affiliated entities as assigned, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure proper accounting for program assets and liabilities.
  • Work with the Programming team to manage program runs usage to avoid excess amortization cost.
  • Reconcile amortization schedules, programming assets and liabilities to the general ledger.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audit schedules.
  • Assist with process improvements, including transitioning of the program assets management process from Excel to Wide Orbit Program.
Digital Revenue Accounting
  • Post monthly journal entries for digital revenue related transactions.
  • Reconcile digital revenue receivables to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor digital revenue receivable balances and provide timely risk assessments to management.
Fixed Asset Tracking
  • Input fixed asset information into the fixed asset module, ensuring compliance with company capitalization and depreciation policy.
  • Reconcile fixed assets on a monthly basis.
Month End Close
  • Prepare various balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
  • Review and validate intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Produce monthly financial statements and assist with variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects as needed.
Tax Compliance Support
  • Assist with preparation of schedules for various tax compliance functions, including:
    • Working with a sales tax contractor to support filing of sales tax returns and maintenance of associated balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Draft annual foreign persons tax withholding forms (Form 1042 and 1042s) and associated balance sheet reconciliations
    • Annual personal property tax returns, and
    • Assist with timely filing of annual 1099 forms.
  • Assist with the preparation of schedules for quarterly and year-end tax estimates.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Finance or Accounting from four-year college or university and four plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Public accounting experience strongly preferred. Hands on experience in accounting, planning, financial analysis, and understanding of financial statements. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required. Experience in the entertainment industry is a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Great Plains or similar ERP systems. Experience with Wide Orbit or other advertising sales software is desirable but not essential. Experience with Solver or similar budgeting and reporting tools is considered a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

This is a hybrid job role, with a combination of telecommuting workdays and in-office workdays.
