ThePulmonary section oversees a twelve bed MICU, a six bed sleep lab, pulmonaryfunction laboratory, general and advance diagnostics, including EBUS andinterventional procedures. NMVAHCS is directly affiliated with the Universityof New Mexico, School of Medicine. Academic programs includeeducational development programs, clinical outcomes, as well as translationaland basic science research. Major research areas in the Division and VA includelung cancer and chemoprevention, heat shock protein biology, asthma, COPD,sleep medicine and respiratory epithelial cell biology. Research collaborationsare also available through the NCI-designated Cancer Research and TreatmentCenter at UNM. The Division maintains strong ties with the Lovelace RespiratoryResearch Institute, a non-profit research organization focused on bench,translational, and clinical research in respiratory diseases.
Candidate must have a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and researchand be eligible for a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine at theUniversity of New Mexico. Preferred is an individual with a proven track recordin research both in terms of peer-reviewed publications and grant support.Applicants should be board certified or board eligible in Pulmonology andCritical Care. The candidate must also be American Heart Association BLS/ACLScertified.
