UNM Medical Group is Hiring a Manager Pharmacy Services - Truman Near Albuquerque, NM

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Manager Pharmacy Services to join our Outpatient Pharmacy at Truman Health Services. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Minimum $117,291 - Midpoint $152,422*

*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.

*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

Summary of the Manager Pharmacy Services:

Manages the day-to-day operations and integrated clinical activities of the UNM Truman Health Services (UNM THS) retail/specialty pharmacy program. Working in collaboration with the Pharmacy Director ensures compliance with the 340B, non 340B and contractual components of the programs. Manages staff to include the maintenance of clinical and regulatory compliance standards by ensuring staff adhere to federal, state, regulatory, accreditation standards, and/or company policies. Collaborates with stakeholders throughout the Health System to improve services by monitoring processes, analyzing data, implementing interventions to improve and evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions, as appropriate.

Minimum Job Requirements of a Manager Pharmacy Services:

Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy; at least 5 years of directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Current and unrestricted pharmacist licensed registered in the State of New Mexico. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. BLS certification required. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Manager Pharmacy Services:

  1. Manages daily retail/specialty pharmacy operations including establishing work priorities, overseeing workflow, and assisting in the resolution of issues while ensuring compliance with organizational policies as well as state and federal laws and applicable regulations.
  2. Manage and lead the provision of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient centered pharmacy patient care services and operations for areas of responsibility.
  3. Oversees the supervision of pharmacy personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  4. Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  5. Provides ongoing consultation with health care providers in the field. Consults with patients and/or medical providers on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects, provides other drug information as appropriate.
  6. Assists the Director of Pharmacy with accreditation maintenance and renewal along with associated quality improvement and assurance initiatives and metrics.
  7. Establish and maintain a pharmacy Patient Management Program.
  8. Maximize pharmacy revenue through inventory management, ensuring adequate supply while keeping in line with approved budget.
  9. Manages reimbursement issues associated with high-cost acquisition specialty medications. Conducts final review of retrospective utilization reviews on cases of payment denials or insufficient reimbursement.
  10. Serve as an advisor and/or preceptor for students/interns/residents.
  11. May represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees and task forces; may chair other committees.
  12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
