What We Seek:

Join us as the Director of Development for the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) at the University of New Mexico Foundation, where you'll play a pivotal role in fundraising and managing this vital University operating unit to raise philanthropic support for UNM Children’s Hospital. You'll lead the charge in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating cause-related fundraising campaigns, projects and programs to achieve our development goals and objectives.

In this dynamic position, you'll personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects in alignment with performance targets set by the UNM Foundation. Your leadership will extend to leading a fast paced, multi-faceted fundraising program and team through coordinating fundraising campaigns projects, programs, and activities to enhance visibility among various stakeholders, including leadership, alumni, corporations, foundations, the business community, volunteers, and beyond. Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads and creates strategies for the CMN team to successfully engage partners in cause-related fundraising efforts. This includes identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set by the UNM Foundation and at levels defined by the Foundation.
  • Establishes effective working relationship with Children’s Hospital leadership, Children’s Miracle Network Leadership and Foundation leadership. to support the university unit for fundraising matters.
  • Responsible for managing and leading fundraising campaigns and other events and programs with national and local partners to bring philanthropic support for UNM Children’s Hospital.
  • Enlists senior management in furthering the unit's fundraising program; provides effective staffing and educates and supports management with respect to their Foundation leadership roles.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the UNM Foundation and colleagues to maximize the unit's total gift revenue.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution required
  • Three (3) or more years related experience in development/fundraising
  • Experience in higher education or other non-profit organization
  • Proven ability to lead cause-related fundraising campaigns, events and programs that raise major gift philanthropic support.
  • Willingness to travel and to work some evenings and weekends


Compensation Salary Range

$80,000 - $85,000

Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Other Requirements

Must be able to drive personal vehicle for University and Foundation business (mileage reimbursed) and hold a valid driver’s license with current insurance, and a clean driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of criminal, driving record, and employment background screening. Some positions may also require credit background screening as well.


Working Conditions:

  • This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule.
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times, with or without assistance such as a dolly or cart
  • May be required, on occasion, to drive personal vehicle for job-related business.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours, as necessary.
