The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health (KCH) seeks a full-time (12-month) Visiting Research Specialist (Khan Lab). This position will oversee the day to day operations of a nutrition-based clinical trial for children under the supervision of the Principal Investigator Dr. Naiman Khan.
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlan and conduct advertising campaigns for the research project
Recruit, screen, and schedule participants for data collection
Organization of research activities, allocate appropriate research space and equipment, meet with participants, and prepare manual of procedures
Assist with and manage data collection and review, enter gathered data into database, and manage database
Assist with preparation and maintenance of IRB protocols
Coordinate procedures and policies, ensure that standard protocols are followed, update manual of procedures, and keep track of certifications of team members
Assist with preparation of semi-annual data safety and management reports for the research study
Assist with organization of research-related events (such as with community organizations)
Communicate with the investigators and research staff at collaborating sites
Other related duties as assigned to carry out the proposed work, including and not limited to assisting with preparation of intervention materials, hiring other project staff, participant compensation
QualificationsEducation:Required: Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or Nutrition or related discipline
Preferred: Coursework in Neuroscience and Psychology
Experience:Required: Previous experience in Exercise or Nutrition or Health-related research
Preferred: Research experience with pediatric research participants
Training, Licenses or Certifications:Required: Training in Exercise, Nutrition, or Neuroscience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Required:
Excellent interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
Organized and detail oriented
Dependable and capable of working with large teams
Comfortable using Microsoft Office software including database management
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. Salary is commensurate with experience.
