JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provides management and leadership for the Emergency Department nursing unit. To include fiscal responsibility, Human Resource management and Quality Improvement. Directs and ensures that all patients on unit are assessed and their care is planned, implements and evaluated by competent, professional nurses. Is responsible for meeting NYS and Joint Commission Standards for Nursing Practice; for managing all personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel from other departments. Is accountable for 24-hour management of patient care delivery in the unit. Is knowledgeable of union contracts.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Registered Nurse with NYS license. Baccalaureate degree preferred. Two to five years' critical care or emergency room experience required,including experience in patient care. BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS preferred. Demonstrates leadership abilities; able to work under stressfulsituations. Possesses good oral and written communication skills.Demonstrates interpersonal relationships in a manner that enhancescommunication, promotes conflict resolutions and facilitates staff development. Skills & knowledge to sustain and evaluate clinical completion incaring for specific age and type of patient population served.
