UNIVERSITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH is Hiring a Church Hospitality Associate Near Austin, TX

Church Hospitality Associate

Purpose: To be responsible for the security of the building. To be the “face” of UPC, providing a knowledgeable, welcoming presence, and ensuring access to UPC resources and security while people are present in the building.

Schedule:

  • Since the use of UPC facilities varies somewhat from week to week, and even more so from season to season (summer vs. school year months), there is no set time schedule for the hospitality associate. It is important that the hospitality associate be as flexible as possible as far as his/her work schedule is concerned.
  • The hospitality associate is normally requested to be at work 30 minutes before the start of a scheduled activity and work until 30 minutes past the end of the last activity for the day.
  • On weekdays, when scheduled to work, the hospitality associate will normally need to be on- site by 5 PM. As outlined in the Responsibilities section, the hospitality associate should expect all activities to be over by no later than 9 PM; however, the hospitality associate is expected to be on duty until all parties have left the building.
  • On Sundays, the hospitality associate normally works from 8 AM until around 2 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a welcoming and hospitable presence at the main entrance door at UPC. Answer questions from guest and visitors and seek out those that may need help finding their way.
  • Keep an open eye on the building for the security of those gathered inside.
  • Fulfill a “first-in-the-building” checklist, which may include opening and unlocking doors, turning on lights, inspect the property for trash or damage, make coffee, and/or other duties as assigned.
  • Fulfill a “last-out-the-door” checklist, which may include relocking doors, turning off lights, inspect the building for remaining visitors, and/or other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with other miscellaneous tasks as directed.

Special Considerations:

  • The hospitality associate is an hourly paid employee. The pay is $15/hour.
  • Employees will be paid the greater of time worked or for four hours per shift.
  • Employees may choose to split their shift with another employee, but they will be paid actual hours worked as we don't want to misuse the generosity of the church.
  • Employees who show up late to their shift or leave earlier than schedules will be paid for time worked.

Relationships: Ability to communicate clearly, kindly, and with patience to visitors and congregation members. Punctuality and hospitality are a must. The hospitality associate is the face of UPC to first time visitors and should endeavor to share the welcoming spirit of UPC.

Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and pass a criminal background check.
