Position Title:
Financial Aid Officer

Employment Type: Full-Time, Academic Staff/Non-Instructional

Reports To: Scholarship & Financial Aid Director, Scholarship & Financial Aid Office

Salary: $43,000.00 - $47,000.00 commensurate with qualifications and experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

¿ Bachelor¿s degree required
¿ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student and faculty/staff population
¿ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing


Desired Qualifications:

¿ Working knowledge of PeopleSoft
¿ Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Education¿s various reporting systems (i.e. COD FAA Access and NSLDS).
¿ Ability to work effectively under stressful situations and still maintain a cordial, positive and professional demeanor.
¿ Proactive, with strong problem solving and organizational skills.
¿ Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively with frequent interruptions.
¿ Excellent mathematical and analytical skills as well as computer proficiency.
¿ Collaborative and student/customer orients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director of Scholarship and Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Officer is responsible for having a good understanding of the federal and state regulations and institutional; policies and procedures enabling them to review and process paperwork in a timely manner with great accuracy. The review of financial aid related paperwork will determine students¿/parents¿ eligibility for the various federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid associated programs.

Key Job Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities for this position will include:

¿ Review and accurately evaluate financial aid application and any supporting documentation in compliance with federal and state regulations.
¿ Review professional judgement (i.e. special circumstance, budget adjustments, dependency overrides) requests and recalculate awards/budgets based upon eligibility and program guidelines.
¿ As necessary, contact and work with students/parents to resolve conflicting or incomplete information.
¿ Be knowledgeable of policies of other departments (Registrar, Admissions, Bursar, etc.) and their impact on determining financial aid eligibility.
¿ Resolve complex problems, which may involve other university departments, in accurately determining students¿ financial aid eligibility.
¿ Review grades and academic history of students in regards to determining Satisfactory Academic Progress towards degree.
¿ Responsible for administration and reconciliation of Wisconsin based aid programs including Wisconsin Grant, TIP Grant, Nursing Loans, AED and other HEAB administered programs.
¿ Serves as main point of contact and administrator for Fund for Wisconsin Scholars (FFWS) Program, including nomination and certifying eligibility per FFWS software.
¿ Counsels students taking coursework outside of UW-Parkside regarding funding option (study abroad, consortium agreements, dual admission programs).
¿ Participate in meetings, planning sessions, and discussion involving departmental operations. Be knowledgeable in the FAO policies and procedures in order to recommend enhancements to address and resolve operational concerns.
¿ Other duties as assigned by the Director or Associate Directors of Scholarship and Financial Aid.
¿ Ensure data integrity and technology integration in the recruitment and application review process
