University of Wisconsin–Madison is Hiring a WCIC Facilities Tech Near Madison, WI

Job Summary:

The Wisconsin Crop Innovation Center (WCIC) is a UW plant biotechnology research facility in Middleton WI. The Center consists of a 100,000 sq ft foot building and contains a 26,000 sq ft greenhouse. The WCIC consists of a team of 35 staff performing scientific discoveries on plant biotechnology and keeps plants and plant cell cultures thriving.
This is an entry level facilities position that will be trained on the intricacies of the building and the research specific components that require oversite, maintenance, and repair. Responsibilities:

Assists with facility and equipment inspection, maintenance, and repairs to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, and meeting and event preparation as needed.
  • 20% Utilizes basic equipment to repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment, and facility property under close supervision to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • 10% Assists with routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
  • 10% Escalates and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
  • 20% Assists with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities under close supervision
  • 30% Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
  • 10% Sets up and tears down equipment for institutional meetings and events

-Basic equipment inspection, maintenance, and repair
-Operational maintenance or construction activities
-Inventory control
-Setting up and tearing down equipment for meetings and events

Work Schedule:

-Normal hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
-Rotating on-call schedule to include some weekends and holidays.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $19.76 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum hourly rate for this position will be $19.76. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
