University of Washington is Hiring a FOOD SERVICE WORKER 2 - EVENING SHIFT (CANDIDATE BANK) Near Seattle, WA

This job posting is for the Evening Shift, anticipated hours are from noon - 8:30pm, but may vary depending on business needs and dining location.

Description of Duties

* Participate in and lead employees in food preparation, serving and/or dishwashing

* Participate and train staff in receiving, storing and rotating merchandise/stock in refrigerators, freezers or storage rooms according to food handling guidelines and department procedures

* Assign student, hourly or Food Service Workers 1 and students to meet production and service needs

* Take and record food preparation and holding temperatures before the food leaves the production area and during service

* Print worksheets from CBORD FSS system, including order guides, production sheets, recipes and inventory tally sheets

* Operate point of sale systems, keying in sales, taking payments and making change; account for receipts

* Receive customer orders, answering questions about ingredients, recipes and pricing

* Stock food and beverage display areas and ensure that all food items are attractively displayed, meet all quality assurance standards, and are properly identified and priced; keep display cases full throughout shift

* Ensure that all foods and wares used are properly handled, wrapped, dated, labeled and stored

* Maintain records of foods produced, foods wasted, and any recipe adjustments according to CBORD specifications

* Set up, clean, and maintain order of work areas, stockroom areas, service counters and seating areas

* Take inventory counts using tally sheets

* Inspect food service equipment to determine proper care, use and operation

* Report safety issues, operational problems, and equipment malfunctions to lead/manager

* Frequently positions self to lift items or boxes/bins of product from floor or low shelving or placing items on low shelving for preparing or cooking food

* Perform duties of a Food Service Worker 1

* Perform all responsibilities to standards of Washington State health code, UW Dining, and CBORD specifications

* Perform related duties as assigned

Position Dimensions

The position is a nine-month cyclic position that works mid-September to mid-June. Additional work may be available in the summer based on business needs and seniority. While staff are hired into specific positions, they may be reassigned to a different unit or schedule with two weeks of notice.

Minimum Qualifications

* Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage or equivalent education/experience.

* A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes.

* Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate leadership, customer service and espresso experience in fast-paced environments, and who demonstrate a strong focus on teamwork and providing consistently high-quality products and service.
