DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Madison Clinic at Harborview offers medical care and social services for persons living with HIV/AIDS, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race or ability to pay. Our mental healthcare professionals provide a range of services for patients with HIV/AIDS, including psychiatric consultations, medication management and recommendations for continued psychiatric care.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESRoom patients, take vital signs, and reconcile recordsPerform injectionsPrepare and clean exam roomsSubmit medication prior authorizationsRecognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to providerAct as a liaison between patient, patients family and providersAssist provider with procedures and medical examsPerform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory valuesAssist in transporting patients as required
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalentMust be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employmentValid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
